The Studio

Located in a storied Sausalito artist community, the studio is a working art & design space.

Originally constructed in the Spring of 1942, the Industrial Center Building was part of a massive shipbuilding complex and a bustling center of craftsmen and designers who helped facilitate the building of warships and the famous “Liberty Ships” that moved cargo during world war II. Over the years the building has retained that spirit and has become the home for numerous artists. Today, over 100 artists work within the building.

The architecture of the building and unique light industrial personality lends itself to “making” be it design, art, or any creative endeavor.

High ceilings, abundant natural light, and a north facing wall of windows to the Sausalito waterfront make the studio a unique and beautiful place to create and showcase my work.

About

Inspired by universal geometric harmonies and mathematical order, Skye’s work ranges from works on paper to large scale sculptural work hewn from solid brass and acrylic.

The resulting crystallographically balanced compositions - organized cosmologies - are calming, rhythmic, chronographic, and live in a space that is both ancient and futuristic.

Process

A large focus in Skye’s work is on the act of making by hand.

Born and raised in California, Skye’s mother and father were both concert cellists, his grandmother painted and studied under Clyfford Still in New York, and his grandfather discovered, excavated, and exhibited fossils in national museums.

The collective influences of Skye’s family has affected choice of medium and theme and plays out in pieces that are organized atop hand-drafted grids, rendered in materials that range from hammered brass, to gold leaf and sumi ink.

Recent Work

A selection of recent and available works.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
